How the band scores are calculated?

  • All IELTS scores are between 0-9 and getting half band scores or 0.5 also possible ( example: 6.5 or 7.5 )
  • You will get separate band scores for each of IELTS skill; Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking and also an average band score to determine your overall band score. Look at the chart below.

  • The examiner will add all your four band scores and divide them by four (4) to get the overall band score.
  •    • If your calculated average score is 6.25 or above, your average score will be increased to 6.5.
  •    • If your calculated average score is 6.75 or above your average score will be increased to 7.0
  •    • If your calculated average score is 6.2, your average will go down to 6.0
  •    • Your overall score will be rounded-up to nearest 0.5 or whole score as shown above.
