Followings are the common details of IELTS Academic or General Training Reading
test.
• Reading module takes up to 60 minutes including answer transferring time.
• There are 40 questions. They will become progressively more difficult.
• There are three long reading texts.
• There are about 2700-3000 words that you need to read
• To reach a specific band score you need to get a certain number of correct
answers.
• The text can be on a range of different topics. (Common but not specialized)
• The text become progressively more difficult to understand.
• At least one of the text will contain a detailed logical argument.
• The reading questions are designed to test a wide range of reading skills.

IELTS Academic Test
• This includes three long texts which range from the descriptive and factual to the
discursive and analytical.
• These are taken from books, journals, magazines and newspapers.
• They have been selected for a non-specialist audience but are appropriate for
people entering university courses or seeking professional registration.
